What to Expect
Upon booking your appointment, you will receive an email confirming your appointment date and time, together with a link to the Health and Assessment Questionnaire and 7 day diet diary. You will need to complete these forms and return them to me by email at least 3 days prior to your appointment.
Your initial appointment will last between 60-90 minutes. The appointment is used to investigate the functioning of your body systems and any potential triggers that may be affecting your health. During the consultation I will use a combination of specific questioning and diagnostic tools to gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of your health including medical history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, diet choices and your health goals. Together we will create an individualised Wellness Plan that will be specific to your health goals. We often find that simple changes can trigger significant results. I will email you a copy of your Wellness Plan within 48 hours from the time of your consultation. The Plan will be focussed around food, lifestyle and supplement recommendations, where necessary. This may also include information regarding functional testing, which will be discussed during the consultation.
Follow up appointments are usually scheduled four weeks after the initial consultation and typically last up to 60 minutes. It is worth noting that each client’s journey is individual and appointment times will be decided upon during the initial consultation to ensure that it is in line with each client’s needs.
As a mother of two children, I know the importance of keeping our children fit and healthy. I have personally found that using a functional medicine approach with my own children has enabled me to address significant underlying health concerns, such as compromised immune function, leaky gut and food intolerances. Children and/or adolescents are very often reluctant to change their diet or take on board certain suggestions that could significantly support their health. I genuinely believe that more needs to be done to educate and support our children in their understanding of the body and how the right nutrition can optimise their well-being and enable them to thrive.
I offer full consultations and testing for babies, toddlers, children and adolescents. All children under the age of sixteen need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the full duration of the consultation.
Prices (for both adults and children)
Initial Consultation £95
Follow up consultation £60
Skype and telephone consultations are also available upon request.

I personally believe that functional tests provide an insight into potential imbalances that may exist within the body and for this reason I offer a full range of functional tests that are individually priced. From personal experience and working with clients, I have seen the transformation brought about by the use of functional tests. Functional tests enable us to design a Wellness Plan which targets very specific areas in the body with a view to reduce symptoms and restore balance. For this reason functional tests should only be considered once there is a full understanding of the client’s health profile to ensure that the tests are necessary and targeted at the right areas.
I therefore only offer a few tests without a full consultation as I feel these tests can provide some valuable information for clients that may wish to improve their health with some simple tweaks.
Vitamin D Testing
The sun is the source of life for everything that grows on earth. It provides nutrients to all living things and provides benefits in so many areas of the body including skeletal health and supporting immune function. Only a very small amount of vitamin D can be obtained from food and the rest needs to be obtained from direct skin exposure to sunlight. This poses a problem during the winter months and especially for people living in the Northern hemisphere where adequate sun exposure is significantly reduced during this time. In addition, other lifestyle factors, such as longer working hours with more time spent indoors, less outdoor play due to technological advancements and widespread public health concerns about premature skin ageing and skin cancer, have all led to increased risk of vitamin D deficiency. In clinical practice I often find that vitamin D deficiency is at the forefront of many people’s health concerns and for this very reason I feel that it is important that everyone should have their vitamin D levels tested at least once or twice a year to ensure that they have sufficient levels of vitamin D to support good health. Whilst a daily supplement may support or prevent deficiency, there is also a risk of over supplementing. In order to prevent toxicity, it is better to have an understanding of your own body stores, in fact it is a bit like looking at the fuel gauge in your car – you wouldn’t top up if you were already full. Getting your vitamin D levels tested annually should form a part of your life ritual as it is the one vitamin that impacts on all aspects of health.
The test will take around 10 minutes and a further appointment of 20 minutes will be required after two weeks to review your results and discuss any necessary recommendations.
Duration: 30 mins
Food Intolerance Testing
Discover whether food intolerance could be adversely affecting your health. Food Detective TM Intolerance testing uses a finger prick blood sample to test for a reaction to 59 common foods. Food Detective measures IgG antibodies which may be linked to inflammatory conditions in the body that may be manifesting in a range of health issues. The test is taken as part of a more in depth consultation to enable us to put together a Wellness Plan to support the findings and look at how best to address the possible implications to the body.
Duration: 90 mins
A range of other functional tests are available, some of which include Allergy Tests for more comprehensive food lists and environmental triggers:
Digestive Function Tests
Which include a range of tests that look at Helicobacter Pylori, Parasites, Fungus, Yeast, Candida, Opportunistic Bacteria, Bacterial Flora (which may be potential autoimmune triggers), Intestinal Health (which looks at how well you break down protein and fats and your Secretory IgA (your first line of defence). Other digestive tests include Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Wheat / Gluten Reactivity, Intestinal Permeability (also known as Leaky Gut) and more.
Immune Function Tests
To identify immune status, or a variety of auto-immune screenings as well as neuro-inflammatory markers. There are also a whole range of tests that look at specific viral, Lyme Disease and other infections.
Thyroid Function Tests
Which provide a comprehensive overview of thyroid function by looking at TSH, T4, T3, and reverse T3 as well as thyroid antibodies.
Hormonal Function Tests
Which include Adrenal profiles, looking at cortisol, the stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands, throughout the day, which can become depleted or unbalanced over periods of prolonged stress. Full hormonal panels can provide valuable information to help optimise hormonal health. The use of neurotransmitter tests can be very useful in children on the spectrum.
Hair Mineral Analysis Test
Which help assess mineral status and identify the presence of toxic metals, which may be impacting your health. Hair samples are analysed for a number of nutritional elements (calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium and zinc) and also for toxic elements (aluminium, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury and nickel). This test may be especially beneficial for adults and children struggling with chronic illness, auto-immunity, allergies or anyone lacking in optimal health.
Over time nutritional inadequacies can result in a variety of health problems. Testing can provide us with valuable information on vitamin and mineral deficiencies, environmental toxicity as well as an in depth understanding of gastrointestinal function and oxidative stress. Addressing these imbalances can be life changing, so if you are not functioning at your optimal level then why not book a consultation to discuss how we can best address health needs.
