Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy is a therapy that incorporates nutritional science, whilst taking into account lifestyle factors such as stress, work and the environment that may be impacting on health. The focus is on looking at the body as a whole rather than just focussing on individual symptoms. Good nutrition is central to good health and nutritional therapy looks at how to provide the body with the correct nutrients and support to create the right environment to optimise our health potential.
How we feel depends on the internal chemistry within the body, which relies on functions such as enzyme production, metabolism, hormone function and managing inflammation, all of which require nutrients to function. The right combination of food is key to support the biological processes within the body and if we fail to provide these, it ultimately leads to deficiencies in certain areas in the body which will result in symptoms. Very often treatment involves suppressing the symptom(s), rather than addressing the root cause. Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy is focussed around restoring balance within the body by addressing the root cause, which can often take time.
This can be achieved by addressing food, lifestyle and in some cases the use of supplements and functional testing. Food is used as the primary healer but sometimes supplements may be suggested to assist the body’s natural recovery processes. Our bodies are amazing at what they do and will always strive to do its best. It is no surprise that what we put into our bodies can affect the way we feel. Each client is unique and will receive a personalised Wellness Plan to support their health.
